Courtyard Flats intends to revolutionize low and middle income housing in
Kenya by bringing new house and apartment construction methods, new technology, and lower
prices to
the Kenya and Nairobi housing sector.
Our Mission
Courtyard Flats Mlolongo Ltd (CFM) has a three part mission. First is to
provide houses and flats to low and middle income Kenyans at prices they can
afford while still giving them a safe, attractive, secure home and community to live in.
Courtyard Flats' second mission it to bring home affordability into the
range of hundreds of thousands of Nairobi middle and low income workers who have
not been able to own their own home before. And finally Courtyard Flats will
achieve the first two missions while still making a profit for its investors so
the housing projects continue and become self-sustaining.
Company Profile
Courtyard Flats was founded by Raymond Chisholm, an American Civil Engineer
and Developer who left the United States 12 years ago to work in Kenya.
His partners are his wife Jackie Akinyi Jakaila, former Member of Parliament, Engineer David Kombe,
and prominent banker Alfornse Kisilu.
Chisholm was a former Director of the National Society of Professional
Engineers in Washington, a planning commissioner in Blacksburg, Virginia and
Governor for Professional Engineers in Construction in Virginia. He has
over 30 years of Construction Management and Real Estate Development experience
for some of the best construction and development companies in the world.
He is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He has always had a keen
interest in building economical housing.
Kisilu has over 12 years of senior management experience at two of the
largest banks in Kenya and now heads a three country division of his current
bank. He received his undergraduate degree from Edgerton University and is
completing his MBA at Strathmore University.
Kombereceived his Diploma
in Building and Civil Engineering from Kenya Polytechnic Higher National Diploma
in Building and Civil Engineering from Mombasa Polytechnic and he received his
Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Building Services Engineering from the
University of Liverpool, UK. Kombe was the Director of Works for Kompaf
Engineering and Construction Ltd. He was a Lecturer at Mombasa Polytechnic.
Kombe also worked at the Ministry of Works in the Structural and Architectural
Department. He was the Magarina MP from 1997 to 2002.
Jakaila received her BS in Information Technology (Hons) from Jomo
Kenyatta University and has worked for America East Africa Corporation,
Compulynx,
Kenya Airways and Skypath Aviation.
